Version Mildenberg
Speaker: Benjamin Kollenda
Benjamin is a PhD student with a research focus on software attacks and defenses. Even before his studies he was interested in reverse-engineering and learning about low-level details in both software and hardware.
Benjamin is a PhD student at the chair for systems security at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Since two years he has studied attacks and defenses for software, often focused on exploiting browsers via JavaScript. However his main interests lie in low level details of hardware and operating systems.
His current research topics are focused on using CPU microcode to implement efficient software defenses and improve upon existing ones. Additionally he is looking into data dependent timing differences of CPU instructions and ways of finding undocumented CPU features.
