His daily work includes designing and analyzing cryptographic systems on various platforms, like smartcards, set-top box SoCs, or RFID tags. He is known for his seminal cryptanalysis research on "banana" attacks and zero-sum attacks (a type of banana attack). He co-designed the algorithms BLAKE (one of the five SHA-3 finalists), Quark (a tiny hash for lightweight hardware), and SipHash (a pseudorandom function adopted by OpenDNS and the Rust language to protect against hash-flooding).
