Jeroen Massar

Jeroen has a passion for networking in general with a special interest in IPv6 deployment and recently also one in Delay and Disruption Tolerant Networks.

Also see http://unfix.org/~jeroen/ and of course google("Jeroen Massar")

Jeroen has been active in various networking areas, primarily in IPv6 deployment, working with/against the IETF and the various RIR's. He is one of the two persons behind SixXS providing IPv6 connectivity to lots of people, while also making sure that it actually works by providing GRH to enable IPv6 routing problems to be debugged. His new found subject of interest is Delay and Disruption Tolerant Networking (DTN) which includes Deep Space Networking and Inter Planetary Networks (IPN).

Jeroen is Dutch and currently working for IBM Zurich Research Laboratory (Switzerland), while doing a Masters in CS Networks & Distributed Systems at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. There he is focusing on the DTN portion with a target of automatically upgrading a large network of nodes which might reside in a lake, but might also be floating around in the Galaxy. The TCD work is supervised by Stephen Farrell, the author of the DTN book.

Background Key points:

  • SixXS (http://www.sixxs.net/) Providing a Tunnel Broker for the public, about 25 PoPs spread over Europe and the US enabling everybody to be able to get IPv6 connectivity, even on dailups, behind NAT's, behind firewalls, in effect everywhere one goes.

  • Work: IBM Zurich Research Laboratory (http://www.zurich.ibm.com/~jma/)

Network performance profiling using AURORA, which enables profiling of high speed (10GE upwards) links.

  • College: Upgrading Nodes in Delay and Disruption Tolerant Networks

Upgrading large amount of nodes DTN's in a secure and scalable way.

Oh, and if PuTTY's IPv6 is broken, you know who to blame.
