After her studies in mathematics, Katja worked as a product manager and security expert in the railway industry for four years before deciding to go back to academia to be able to focus on research and follow a lifelong passion for cryptography.

After her studies in mathematics, Katja worked as a product manager and security expert in the railway industry. She worked in an European research project and was responsible for the development of an Identity and Access Management System (IAM). After finding herself mostly sitting in meetings, she decided to go back to university and do research. She started on higher education certificates before figuring out that research on railway means you can play with trains of any size - that's what she's currently doing.
