Speaker: Jonas Geisler

As a PhD student at the Friedrich-Schiller-University he is doing research on the electrocatalyic reduction of carbon dioxide, as a power-to-x technology. While besides his studies he is political active, among others in the local group of scientists4future in Jena

Jonas Geisler studied from 2011 to 2017 at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena Germany. After finishing his B. Sc. in chemistry 2014 he studied environmental chemistry and changed afterwards to chemistry, energy and environmental studies. Therein he received his master degree in November 2017 for a thesis about electrocatalytic CO2-reduction. Since April 2018, he is working in the Group of Prof. Dr. Philipp Adelhelm at the Institute of Technical Chemistry and Environmental Chemistry (ITUC) and the Center for Energy and Environmental Chemistry (CEEC) at the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena as a PhD student. His research topic is on the electrocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide, as a power-to-x technology. Besides electrocatalysis the focus of the research group are new battery concepts in lithium ion technology and beyond. There for he has a profound knowledge in the research fields of electrochemical energy storage.
Besides his research work at the university, he is actively interested in the political and social discourse. Therefore, he is for example active in the local group of scientists4future in Jena.
