What is brewing in Brussels?
What is coming down the political pipeline in the EU
Right now the European Union is in a bit of a lawmaking frenzy on areas that are relevant to the internet in general.
This Commission has several ambitious undertakings going on with regard to:
- enforcement of so-called intellectual property rights
- data protection
- data retention directive
- Passenger Name Records (PNR)
Furthermore, several recent efforts are wrapping up and are moving to the national level, such as ACTA and webfilters against child pornography.
During this lecture Katarzyna Szymielewicz (Panoptykon Foundation Poland) and Walter van Holst (European Digital Rights) will explain the main topics in Brussels, what you can do to get involved to defend your freedoms.
