Radium formulated a re-statement of the nature of money and the development of currency solutions for resilient and sustainable economies to obtain by virtue of an ecology of money. In particular, his research focuses on Complementary Currency systems: CCs are agreements within a community to use something as a means of payment in parallel with – as complements to - conventional national currencies.
Radium's master thesis - Re-thinking the Nature of Money for 21st century Monetary Economics - was defended in Rotterdam at EIPE in 2010. His inquiry resulted in a philosophical assessment of the economic shortcomings emerging in a structurally unsustainable system exclusively implementing bank-debt money. The thesis further describes the synergy among new directions of technological development and leading principles for currency design, together with a selection of well performing multi-currency systems.
